Zagami

Martian Metorite, martian basalt (Shergottite)

Fall: 1962, October 03A meteorite of almost 18kg fell about 1km from Zagami Rock on 1962, October 03

Number of pieces recovered: 1

Total known weight: 40lb (approx.)
Mineral analyses: Total iron: 13.74%
maskelynite: An52

Glassy bubbles inside the grey matrix of Zagami contain trapped gasses almost identic in composition to those tested by the NASA Viking landers in 1976 on the surface of the Red Planet planet, thus proving beyond any reasonable doubt that this meteorite was really  part of the Mars.
